Many Facing Food Insecurity
With San Mateo County ranked as the fifth “richest” county nationwide by U.S. News and World, it can be difficult to grasp that an estimated 1 in 6 residents in our area experience some level of food insecurity. Grocery prices in the Bay Area have increased 30% since the pandemic according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and fuel and utility costs rose by nearly 50% regionally during the same period. When one factors in the increasing number of seniors living on a fixed income, the many folks in our community working at minimum wage jobs, and the ever-present high cost of housing for everyone, it is not surprising that the number we serve each month at CALL Primrose continues to rise. Your support is needed now, more than ever, to keep up with this steady rise in the number of those facing hunger and food insecurity within our community.
Thank You for Your Holiday Support!
Due to the generous outpouring of financial support from our community, CALL Primrose was able purchase enough poultry to see that every household that came to us in November was provided with all of the necessary components for a full holiday meal. Thank you for helping to make the holidays brighter for more than 550 local families!
